What is Prunus Avium fruit extract?

Prunus Avium (sweet cherry) and Prunus Cerasus (bitter cherry) are both commonly known as tart cherry.  The tart cherry plant belongs to the rose family, and it grown in Europe, Eastern Asia and the United States.  It provides valuable ingredients such as polyphenols and anthocyanins which are responsible for its colour and taste, as well as phenolics, vitamins, minerals, and essential nutrients.
